Silver After Care
Silver Magpie jewellery is made from 925 Sterling Silver. Sterling Silver is a precious metal that requires a little care to keep it looking all sparkly.
Silver that is worn regularly tends to need less care, however overtime, silver will tarnish. This is caused by a natural reaction with sulphur that is in the air. When this happens the Silver will turn a dark grey/black. There are other factors which may cause tarnishing, for example perfumes, body lotions etc.
Here are a few ways which you can keep your silver looking its very best:
- Choose your jewellery after make-up, perfume and hairspray have been applied, this will help the Silver to avoid unnecessary contact with chemicals.
- Do not shower, swim or wear your jewellery on the beach.
- Remove your jewellery before exercising
How to Clean Your Silver Jewellery:
- Silver jewellery can be washed in warm water with a mild detergent (e.g washing up liquid). Afterwards, dry completely with a nonabrasive cloth.
- If you need something a little stronger a polish specifically for silver works well or specialist silver polishing cloths are very effective.
Storing Silver:
To store your items, place them into a cool, dark and moisture free place. Ideally in a little soft pouch, which will prevent unnecessary scratching.
